Abstract
Organic delusional syndrome is clinical syndrome characterized by the prominence of delusions that are attributable to some specific organic factor. The diagnosis is. not made if the delusions occur in the context of reduced ability to maintain and shift attention to external stimuli, as in delirium. There is a wide range of causative agents or factors that can produce this syndrome. A number of drugs such as amphetamine, cocaine and hallucinogens are frequent causes of the syndrome, but several physical disorders especially those causing cerebral lesions by stoke or trauma are sometimes associated with a delusional state. Treatment of organic delusional syndrome is -dependent of knowledge of the specific etiologic agent or factor. Whatever is the cause, the most effective medications for treatment are the antipsychotics. In choosing antipsychotics, the physician must be guided by the clinical context and presumed etiology as well as by personal prefer-ence and experience.
We experienced a male patient with organic delusional syndrome (delusion of infidelity) due to right cerebral infarctions and report this case with brief review of literaturs.
